Concordia was established in 1891 by Norwegian Lutheran immigrants to the Red River Valley and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Concordia offers a top quality education at a reasonable cost, the campus is safe and friendly, and the school has active international programs. With a metropolitan-area population of over 160,000 (including over 20,000 university students) the Fargo-Moorhead area offers the convenience of small-town living with many advantages of the big city. Minneapolis-St. Paul is located only 250 miles southeast of Moorhead. The 120-acre campus is both beautiful and functional containing 38 major buildings. Special facilities include an observatory, micro-particle accelerator, Concordia Language Villages, Cyrus Running Art Gallery, and a new sports facility.

Luther College, is a residential liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Its campus is built on the rolling wooded hills and rugged limestone cliffs of northeast Iowa's Bluff county. The scenic Upper Iowa River flows through the lower portion of the 175-acre central campus. The college owns an additional 625 acres adjoining the central campus which are devoted to farming, environmental research and biological studies. The small town of Decorah (8,000) is 335 miles west of the Mississippi River and 15 south of the Minnesota border. Special facilities include live animal center, planetarium, art galleries, Norwegian-American museums, 5 downhill ski runs, extensive biology field study areas.

St. Olaf College was founded in 1874 as a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Its beautiful campus consists of 29 major buildings and is located on a hill overlooking the rolling farmland of the small town of Northfield (population 14,000). Built on 350 acres, St. Olaf only 40 miles from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, and is rich in Scandinavian tradition. Special facilities include the Norwegian-American Historical Society Archives, Kierkegaard library, 5 art galleries, music library and a science library.
